PURPOSE
of
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

The organized unit of United Methodist women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ;
to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Four areas of Emphasis are:
Spiritual Growth
Social Action
Education and Interpretation
Membership Nurture and Outreach

•Joining forces and working together from diverse backgrounds to support missions.
•Following of Christ’s teachings through acts of love, justice, merge and faith.
•Striving through Bible studies, retreats and inspirational events to know God and  
           experience freedom through Jesus Christ.
•Messengers who are bringing the good news of God’s love for all.

The new UMW quadrennial theme for 2009-2012:  The symbol is a kite.

  • Collection of Eye Glasses. Pat Lewis - Chairman

  • Collection for Coastal Women’s Shelter.

              (March, June, Sept, and Dec)

  • Health Kits for Coastal Women’s Shelter
              (Begin in April and collect by July)

  • MATCH Program (Mothers and Their Children) April
             (NC Correctional Institution for Women).

  • Flood Buckets as needed.

  • Operation Christmas Child (Shoe Boxes)
            (Begin in Sept. Due in Nov.)

           (Baskets will be filled for families of Wounded Warriors)
